You need to live or work in Grampian to become a member of NESCU. (Known as our ‘common bond’, this is a legal requirement.)
You then need to fill in an application form, pay a £2 joining fee and show some ID.

Joining fee
All new members pay £2 to join NESCU.
This covers our costs in opening your membership. You’ll also need to make your first savings deposit – this can be as little as £1.
Proof of identify
You must produce two pieces of identification. One with a photograph, and the other with your current address. Please see the lists below.

Acceptable forms of ID
- Full Driving Licence
- Passport
- Benefits/Pension Books/DWP Confirmation letter
- Student/Staff ID Card
- Notice of Tax Coding (current year)
- Recent Utility Bill*
- Bank/Credit Card Statement*
- Council Tax Demand
- Rent Book
- Medical Card
*Bills/statements etc must be originals, and no more than three months old.
Unacceptable forms of ID
By Law we cannot accept:
- Birth Certificate*
- Mobile Telephone Bill
- TV Licence
- Business Cards
- Bank/Cheque Guarantee Cards.
*If you’re opening a junior savings account for a child or grandchild (0–16), we will accept an original birth certificate.
