HISTORY

North East Scotland Credit Union was registered and authorised by the Financial Services Authority
in March 2004

Four established Credit Unions -
Elgin, Fraserburgh, Greenfern, and Strathbogie -
have combined with Independent Founder Members
to expand their territory
(known as the Common Bond Area)
in order to serve the whole of Grampian Region.

This has brought Credit Union services to
more than 300,000 people
who were previously excluded
by Common Bond regulations.

More than half a million people
are eligible to join NESCU
but we are not recruiting actively in the Forres or
St Machar areas where independent
community credit unions
already provide a good local service.

As at March 2007 NESCU had 1,100 Members
And 200 Junior savers

About NESCU

HISTORY and FUTURE PLANS

FUTURE PLANS
Members who have bank accounts
can deal with us entirely by post
But others may need a convenient cash collection point.

The four Credit Unions
which have became part of NESCU
now operate as Local Management Groups
and our branch network is growing steadily.

New branches in Peterhead, Stonehaven,
Torry, Cummings Park, Northfield, and Buckie
have already become operational.

NESCU is also providing a savings service in four schools and will expand this wherever volunteers are available

To open a new Service Point
all we need is two or three volunteers who can spare
an hour or two on a regular basis,
plus a suitable collection point.

If you would like to help us develop
a Credit Union Service Point in YOUR area
we shall be very pleased to hear from you.
We may be able to put you in touch with others nearby
who have the same idea.
